The Independent Chip Model

ICM converts tournament chip counts into dollar equities by assigning each player's probability of finishing 1st, 2nd, 3rd... based on their stack share, then weighting by the payout structure. The chip leader is worth less than their stack share suggests; the short stack is worth more.

This calculator uses the Malmuth-Harville recursive formulation. For final-table deals, run two calculations, one straight ICM, one with everyone keeping a "save" amount equal to the next-out money, and meet in the middle.
